Anything You Need To Know About Volunteers (Hopefully)
January 17, 2012Ahhh, talk about being rushed, we’re barely back from break and we’re already accepting applications for the newest addition to this year’s Marathon: Volunteers. If you’ve never heard about Volunteers before, they’re the position which we have instituted this year to take the place of committee members. Over the past few years, we found that CMs weren’t being utilized to their fullest potential for a number of reasons, resulting in them having an unfulfilling DM experience. As a result, we’ve changed the position to Volunteers this year in hopes that everyone at Dance Marathon 2012 will have an amazing experience. If you’re unsure about whether or not being a Volunteer is for you, we’ve compiled a list of some common questions you may have, along with their answers.
What exactly do Volunteers do?
Volunteers will work a minimum of one 5 hour shift during Marathon weekend and will be helping with Dancer Safety, serving food, running games, helping maintain the facility, and any other tasks that may come up throughout the weekend.
Is there any Registration fee?
Yes, there’s a $15 dollar registration fee, which covers the cost of the Volunteer t-shirt and the Volunteer orientation which will take place on March 1st. However, if you sign up today, January 17th, that registration fee is only $5 dollars.
What is the minimum amount of money that volunteers are required to raise?
The Volunteer minimum is $100 dollars, which is due by the orientation date, March 9th(Edit: I messed that up the first try, the money is due March 9th, apologies).
Where do Volunteers sign up?
Volunteers sign up at the same place as everyone else, at http://embracekids.donordrive.com/event/rudm2012 and clicking the register now button.
That’s most everything, registration is open until February 20th, so if you have any questions between now and then feel free to get in touch with us via Facebook (www.facebook.com/RUDanceMarathon) or twitter (@RUDanceMarathon)
