99 (or rather now 98) Days of DM on the Wall

December 23, 2011

99 Days, I think the DM Gods timed that one pretty epically considering it was also my last day of exams.  Okay, if there are DM Gods they probably don’t schedule things according to my exam schedule, but the fact that the events sync up.  The fact that we’re into double digit days could be a bit scary, it’s fallen at a very unique time in The Marathon which is keeping any possible fear at bay.

Hitting Winter Break not only spells a break from studies, but also a break from the constant event planning which charectarizes DM during the year. Instead, it gives a good chance to look back and look at what we have accomplished since we last came together as a CPT.  We had our first summer canning weekend, revamped our Morale Captains, and had an FTK Day which can safely be considered wildly successful.  All of that was in addition to  our DM Alumni also chartering the first official RUDM Alumni Organization.

When it’s all listed out like that it seems surprising that we’ve accomplished so much in addition to continuing on all of our past events (Football games, bar nights, etc). Looking back, everything seems like it’s just sort of fallen naturally into place, as if it was always meant to be that well. Oh well, I suppose that’s the benefit of being 2 months distant from making “Rules of DM” posters until 3 AM.

The beginning of Winter Break also represents the beginning of planning out the lead-in to DM 2012, which is a whole separate set of projects..  We have our second set of posters, a DM workday, more canning, Spirit week, team profiles, and a whole lot more that I won’t bother listing out now.  After all, the next couple of weeks are about taking a break from everything, and I intend to use those to their full advantage before the inevitable tidal work comes and hits me.

So, in conclusion, if you’re celebrating a holiday around now, I hope you and your family have the best of times doing so. If not, I hope that you have an awesome winter season anyway.
